On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, three international students from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Jordan enrolled at Teikyo University's Hachioji Campus visited an elementary school in Hachioji City and participated in volunteer activities aimed at interacting with the children. This initiative was planned by the Hachioji City Board of Education with the aim of deepening understanding of foreign languages and cultures through interactions between international students and children attending elementary schools in the city, as well as creating opportunities for communication using foreign languages.

The exchange event began with a lively greeting in English from the approximately 80 fifth and sixth grade students. The international students gave presentations on their home country's culture and language, and the participating students seemed to gain a deeper understanding of the international students' countries and to be interested in foreign cultures and characteristics not normally seen in Japan, such as food, dance, and the local flora and fauna. During lunch, the international students enjoyed their first Japanese elementary school lunch while engaging in lively conversations with the students. On this day, they were also served "Koumiyako Agepan," a bread made with mulberry leaves, a specialty of Hachioji City.
Through this activity, the international students commented, "I'm glad that the children know more about the current situation in my country than I thought they would from the news," and "This was my first time visiting a Japanese elementary school, and it was a very valuable experience." Both the international students and the children were able to spend a valuable time interacting with each other.
